Healed Nails After Acrylics or Gel
Tips to Quickly Heal Damaged Nails
Both Gel and Acrylic extensions can damage your natural nails, leaving them tattered and brittle. Here are some things you can do to quickly heal your damaged nails.
Remove the Acrylics
This was a 20-minute-long procedure that consisted of soaking my nails in 100 percent acetone and buffing them a few times over until the acrylics were gone.
Cut Them Off
"After you remove your tips your nails have most likely grown out with them," Sunshine says. "If the nail is weak then that part of your nail is already dead and will break off anyway."
File and Buff
Once your nails are free of acrylics, it's time to gently file and buff away any remaining ridges or bumps.
Moisturize
Apply a thick layer of cuticle oil or petroleum jelly to your nails and cuticles several times a day.
Take Breaks
Give your nails a break from polish and extensions for a few weeks to allow them to recover.
Eat a Healthy Diet
Eating a healthy diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals will help your nails grow strong and healthy.
Supplement
If you're not getting enough nutrients from your diet, you may want to consider taking a biotin supplement.
