Edmonton Oilers Battle Back to Tie Series with Dallas Stars
Janmark and Draisaitl Score in Second Period
Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars ended in a 2-2 tie on Thursday night at the American Airlines Center.
The Stars took an early lead on a goal by Jason Robertson in the first period, but the Oilers came back to tie it up on a goal by Mattias Janmark late in the second period. Leon Draisaitl gave the Oilers the lead just 52 seconds later, but the Stars tied it up again on a goal by Jamie Benn with less than five minutes remaining in the third period.
The Oilers had a chance to win it in overtime, but they were unable to score on a power play opportunity. The series now shifts to Edmonton for Game 2 on Saturday night.
The Oilers and Stars are both looking to win their first Stanley Cup since the early 1990s, and the series is sure to be a close one. The Oilers have home-ice advantage, but the Stars have a lot of experience in the playoffs, and they have shown that they can win on the road.
