Leon Draisaitl: German Star on the Rise in the NHL

Breaking News: Draisaitl Becomes All-Time Leading German NHL Points Scorer

Edmonton Oilers Forward Reaches Milestone with 489th Point

Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers has made history as the highest-scoring German player in NHL history, surpassing the previous record set by Uwe Krupp.

The 27-year-old forward achieved the milestone in the Oilers' 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night. Draisaitl assisted on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins's goal to make it 4-0 in the second period and then scored an empty-net goal late in the game to seal the win.

Draisaitl now has 489 points in 644 NHL games, including 230 goals and 259 assists. He is also one of only 11 players in NHL history to record at least 100 points in each of the past four seasons.

The Oilers, who are the top seed in the Western Conference, have advanced to the third round of the playoffs after defeating the Kings in five games. Draisaitl has been a key contributor to the team's success, leading the playoffs in scoring with 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) in 9 games.

Draisaitl's success has been a source of pride for Germany, which has a long history of producing talented hockey players. He is the first German player to win the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player, which he did in 2020.
