United Airlines Flight Diverted to Virginia After Medical Issue
Incident Delays Arrival in Boston by Over Five Hours
p>A United Airlines flight from Houston to Boston was diverted to Northern Virginia on Sunday after a customer experienced a medical issue, according to the airline. The flight, which departed Houston at 9:39 AM, was diverted to Washington Dulles International Airport at 11:45 AM after the passenger became ill. The flight landed in Boston at 7:55 PM, five hours and 20 minutes after its original scheduled arrival time.
United Airlines said in a statement that the flight was diverted "out of an abundance of caution" after the passenger became ill. The airline said that the passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The diversion caused delays for other United flights at Boston Logan International Airport. Several flights were delayed by more than two hours, and one flight was canceled.
United Airlines apologized for the inconvenience caused by the diversion. The airline said that it is working to rebook passengers on other flights.
