Guardians Bo Naylor Not In Lineup

# Guardians' Bo Naylor: Not in lineup ## Naylor scratched with ankle soreness, could return Thursday ### Naylor left Tuesday's game with ankle soreness, did not play Wednesday Cleveland Guardians catcher Bo Naylor was not in the lineup Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox with ankle soreness, manager Terry Francona said. Naylor left Tuesday's game against the White Sox with ankle soreness after grounding out in the fifth inning. Francona said Naylor could return to the lineup Thursday. "He's day to day," Francona said. "He's getting treatment. He could be available [Thursday]. We'll see how he does." Naylor is hitting .275 with four homers and 19 RBIs in 48 games this season. He has been one of the Guardians' most consistent hitters this season, and his absence would be a blow to the team's offense. The Guardians are already without outfielder Myles Straw, who is on the injured list with a left calf strain. Straw is expected to miss at least two more weeks. With Naylor and Straw out, the Guardians will need other players to step up. Catcher Luke Maile started in Naylor's place Wednesday. Maile is hitting .238 with one homer and seven RBIs in 34 games this season. He has also thrown out four of 11 attempted base stealers. The Guardians are hoping Naylor can return to the lineup soon, but they are confident that Maile can fill in adequately in the meantime. "Luke's a good catcher," Francona said. "He knows how to handle a pitching staff. He's a good receiver. He's a good blocker. He's got a good arm. He's not Bo, but he's a good catcher." The Guardians are scheduled to face the White Sox again on Thursday at Guaranteed Rate Field.
